Training Course Description / Outline

In Coaching Training: Building Relationships, you will learn how to establish a coaching relationship with your employees, evaluate employees' personality types, and detect morale-building motivators. In addition, you will learn how to identify factors that can hinder an employee's willingness to trust. The training program will also teach you the steps of the CARE process for establishing trusting relationships with your employees.

Unit 1: Becoming and Effective Coach Objectives: (1 - 1.5 hours)

Identify four reasons why some managers avoid coaching.
Identify the characteristics that differentiate coaching from managing.
Select the characteristics of a good coach.
Establish a coaching relationship with an employee by following recommended actions.
Communicate expectations and feedback to employees by applying proper procedures.
Detect morale-building motivators for individual employees.
Simulation Overview:
In this simulation, you will meet with Marcus D'Angelo and Nancy Hurst, two Software Marketing Department Supervisors. You need to coach them to work more effectively with employees from other departments within their division. To do this, you will need to establish relationships with the employees, effectively communicate expectations and feedback to them, and determine what motivates them in order to build their morale.
Unit 2: Coaching Diverse Employees (0.5 - 1.5 hours)

Correlate the correct characteristics with the four main personality styles.
Evaluate an employee's personality type by following proper guidelines.
Select the correct motivators by assessing the employee's personality profile.
Simulation Overview:
In this simulation, you will meet with Mary Winford and Roger McAlister, two supervisors in Icon's Technical Support Department. Icon's recent software release, Matrix 1.0, has received only moderate reviews and their ability to communicate successfully with clients plays a large role in the success of Matrix 1.0. As the Division Manager, you need to coach and motivate Mary and Roger according to their individual personality types.
Unit 3: Establishing Trust with Employees (0.5 - 1 hour)

Simulation Overview:
In this simulation, you will meet with Dean Kramer and Chala Merino, two team leaders from the Software and Hardware Computing Division. Your goal is to build rapport and establish trust with each employee. Dean and Chala have not attended a marketing meeting for the past two months. You will need to determine the reason for their absences, and coach them on being good team members.
